As the festive season approaches, I wanted to take a moment to thank you sincerely for the generous support your Club has shown to the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation (ALCMF) over the years. Your kindness has helped change lives — giving children living with mobility challenges the gift of movement, independence, and hope.
Today, I write to you not only with gratitude, but with a heartfelt request. Across Australia, there are still many children in need of mobility equipment — aids that are often prohibitively expensive and not funded through government support. Right now, we have children waiting for assistance, with a total cost of $130,402. Unfortunately, the demand for help has far outpaced our current fundraising capacity, and as a result, the Foundation has had to make the difficult decision to limit assistance in order to remain viable long-term. With your help, we can change that.
If your Club is in a position to contribute — in any amount you feel comfortable with — you would be giving a life-changing gift to a child this Christmas: the ability to walk, to move freely, and to experience greater independence. It’s a present unlike any other, and one that will be treasured for a lifetime.
Your support helps provide vital mobility aids that significantly improve a child’s health, inclusion, confidence, and quality of life. Together, through Lions Clubs across Australia, we can make a real and lasting difference.
How your Club can help:
- Collect stamps for the Australian Lions Stamp Club (new, used, or collections): https://201q4.lions.org.au/stampclub
- Sponsor a mobility aid when requested by your ALCMF District Chair
- Include ALCMF in your Club’s funding allocations
- Invite your ALCMF District Chair to speak at a Club meeting or event
- Encourage other groups (such as local golf or service clubs) to support the Foundation
Every act of support, no matter how small, brings us closer to helping these children lead fuller, more independent lives.
